Mike Shipman

Associate Producer and Graphic Designer

Mike Shipman is a freelance photographer, writer, instructor, and designer. He has always been interested in art and science. His clients include Orvis, PDX Magazine, High Country News, AAA Magazine, USFWS, Arizona Wilderness Coalition, Colorado State University, Loyola Marymount University, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. His fine art photographs have been exhibited in Boise, Idaho, Miami, Florida, The Hague in The Netherlands, and in private collections around the world. He recently self-published The Ecology of Photography, a book about why we photograph the subjects we choose, and is working on an expanded version.

He graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in wildlife biology and attended the raptor biology graduate program at Boise State University. He worked for the Colorado State Parks system, USFWS, USFS, Denver Museum of Natural History, and environmental consulting before changing his career to photography.

Mike also designed the movie poster and other items for the award-winning documentary Bravo! Common Men, Uncommon Valor, created and produced by Ken and Betty Rodgers.
